Sekilas Kamera Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W230

KapanLagi.com - Hampir bisa dipastikan bahwa kalau soal desain, produk Sony pasti tak akan mengecewakan, termasuk kamera yang satu ini. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W230 ini sebenarnya tak terlalu beda dengan kebanyakan kamera digital yang beredar belakangan ini tapi dengan kesederhanaan itu kamera ini masih tampil indah di mata.
Fitur yang paling menggoda jelas adalah ukuran layar LCD-nya yang luas. Layar berukuran 3 inci ini nyaris memenuhi bagian belakang dari kamera yang punya dimensi 95.2 x 56.5 x 21.8mm ini. Sisa ruang yang tinggal sedikit di bagian kanan dimanfaatkan untuk meletakkan tombol-tombol kendali yang ditata rapi berjajar dari atas ke bawah. Tapi meski menyenangkan, layar ini juga punya kelemahan. Sulit menghindarkan jari dari layar ini sehingga resiko kotor pun tak bisa dihindarkan.
Sistem kendali kamera ini pun cukup sederhana dan tak membingungkan. Ada tombol dial di sebelah kanan layar dan menyediakan beberapa pilihan pengaturan yang sering digunakan. Yang lebih menyenangkan lagi adalah tampilan di layar yang memberi informasi mengenai mode yang Anda pilih pada tombol dial tadi sehingga semakin mudah memahami masing-masing fungsi dari mode ini.
Karena ini adalah kamera point and shoot, jangan terlalu berharap ada pengaturan manual pada Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W230 ini. Tapi paling tidak fitur-fitur standar kamera seperti face detection, red eye reduction, scene recognition bahkan sampai beberapa filter effect juga sudah disediakan. Kalaupun ada pengaturan yang bisa dilakukan paling hanya soal pengaturan ISO atau white balance saja. Tapi mengingat target pasar kamera ini, sepertinya itu pun sudah mencukupi.
Soal kualitas hasil bidikan, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W230 ini tak terlalu beda dengan kebanyakan kamera 12 megapixel yang lain. Warna memang terlihat alami dan hampir tak terlihat ada distorsi sama sekali. Gambar memang sedikit terlihat soft namun tak sampai harus kehilangan terlalu banyak detail. Sayangnya justru adalah lampu flash-nya yang jangkauannya tak terlalu jauh selain itu lampu flash ini juga sepertinya tidak merata menerangi seluruh objek.
DUA JUTA
Paling tidak meski punya beberapa kekurangan tapi Good Gear Guide masih menganggap kamera ini layak buat direkomendasikan. Empat bintang diberikan situs ini buat kamera yang dijual dengan label harga sebesar US$200 atau kurang lebih setara dengan Rp2 jutaan ini. Good Gear Guide hanya mengeluhkan soal dimensi yang menurut mereka terlalu tebal dan lampu flash-nya yang kurang bertenaga.(ggg/roc)

Inilah model paling bawah – dan juga paling murah – di jajaran kamera digital kompak Canon. Namun jangan buru-buru menghakiminya sebagai produk murahan, kendati casing-nya yang hitam memang terkesan kurang berkelas, dan bentuknya yang semi kotak tidak terlalu menarik. O ya, selain warna hitam yang kami coba, PowerShot A480 ini tersedia dalam warna merah, biru, dan silver.
Jika dibandingkan pendahulunya, PowerShot A470, fisik kamera ini 25% lebih kecil. Namun sensornya lebih besar (10 megapixel vs. 7,1 megapixel). Tata letak tombolnya pun kini lebih sederhana. Spesifikasi istimewa di sini adalah moda supermakro 1cm, pilihan 15 moda bidik dan Face Detection, Motion Detection, dan Automatic Red-Eye Correction.
Desain Sederhana
Desain A480 sederhana, semi kotak. Kesederhanaan desain ini menyiratkan kesan kuat bahwa kamera yang satu ini ditujukan pada kalangan pemula. Fisik A480 sendiri kompak. Bobotnya 140 gram (kosong). Cukup nyaman dimasukkan ke kantong celana atau tas tangan. Kamera ini mengemaskan lensa zoom optic 3,3x (37 – 122 mm).

Bagian belakang A480 didominasi oleh layar LCD 2,5”. Di sisi kanan layar berjajar ke bawah tombol pengendali, mulai dari tombol zoom (ada dua), tombol review, lingkaran navigasi (ISO, makro, timer, delete, flash), sampai tombol Mode dan tombol Menu yang berdampingan letaknya. Tombol Mode memungkinkan kita memilih antara Auto, Program, Scene (SCN) dan Movie. Tepat di tengah lingkaran navigasi hadir tombol Func(tion)/Set yang bila ditekan akan memunculkan sebuah submenu tempat kita bisa mengatur kompensasi exposure, white balance, warna, metering, continuous shooting, kualitas dan ukuran image.
Cuma ada dua hal kecil yang kurang kami sukai. Kebetulan, kedua hal ini ada di bagian bawah kamera. Pertama, dudukan tripod yang letaknya di tengah terbuat dari plastik, bukan metal. Kedua, dan ini menjangkiti semua kamera digital terbaru Canon, adalah penyatuan lokasi batere dan kartu memori. Bersatunya kedua lokasi ini seringkali membuat batere AA yang terpasang terjatuh ketika kartu memori akan diganti (karena habis kapasitasnya atau karena hasil bidikan akan ditransfer via card reader).
Mudah Dikuasai
Semua menu kamera tampil lugas. Tombol-tombolnya dilabeli dengan jelas, sehingga memudahkan pengguna, termasuk pemula. Sebuah tombol khusus di bawah lingkaran navigasi memberi akses ke menu kamera. Kebanyakan setting, seperti white balance, kompensasi exposure, dan kecepatan ISO, memang diakses bukan dari tombol Menu.
Bagi pemula, tersedia Auto, Program, dan 15 moda scene yang memudahkan pengoperasian kamera. Ke-15 moda scene terdiri dari Super Macro, Snow, Foliage, Aquarium, Beach, Long Shutter, Firework, Sunset, Indoor, Kids&Pet, Night Snapshot, dan Portrait.
Super Macro yang disediakan sangatlah menarik. Fitur ini memungkinkan kita membidik dalam jarak 1cm dari subjek dengan panjang fokal 37mm. Hasilnya – saat kami coba -- cukup tajam dan detail. Akan tetapi, tentu saja agak sulit mendapatkan pencahayaan yang baik di jarak sedekat itu.
Keistimewaan lain adalah AF Frame yang mampu mendeteksi sampai sembilan wajah dalam satu bingkai dan menyesuaikan fokus, exposure, setting flash, dan white balance demi menghasilkan gambar yang lebih baik.
O ya, di kameranya ini Canon tidak mengemaskan sistem anti-shake optikal yang berfungsi mengurangi efek goyangan tangan. Sebagai ganti, disediakan teknologi pendeteksi gerakan (motion detection), yang identik dengan anti-shake digital. Fitur ini akan mengenali goyangan kamera atau gerakan subjek, kemudian mendongkrak ISO ke level tertentu (antara 80 – 800) yang oleh kamera dianggap mampu mengompensasi efek gerakan tanpa menyebabkan noise yang besar.
Pusatkan di Layar
Semua bidikan di kamera harus dilakukan dengan memantau subjek di layar LCD 2,5”. Sebab seperti kamera saku baru Canon lainnya, A480 tidak lagi mengemaskan viewfinder. Pada kondisi cukup cahaya dan resolusi tinggi, tayangan di layar LCD ini tampak terang dan jelas. Namun pada resolusi rendah, tayangan di LCD ini tampak kurang sempurna.
O ya, LCD akan menghitam sejenak saat kamera sedang merekam gambar ke kartu memori (SD/SDHC). Perlu sekitar 0,5 detik untuk menyimpan satu image. Namun kita bisa terus memotret saat gambar-gambar sedang direkam ke kartu memori.
Setelah gambar direkam, kita harus menayang ulangnya di LCD. Kita bisa menggulung gambar-gambar tersebut, melihat sampai 9 thumbnail per layar, men-zoom dengan pembesaran maksimal 10x, memutarnya dalam bentuk slideshow, menghapus, memproteksi, mengecilkan ukuran dan memutar gambar tersebut. Urutan cetak dan transfer juga bisa diatur di sini.
Di layar LCD ini kita juga bisa mengaktifkan opsi Red-eye Correction untuk mengurangi efek mata merah di hasil foto. Sementara itu opsi Info Disp menawarkan empat pilihan, yakni Off, Standard, Detailed dan Focus Check. Detailed menayangkan informasi tentang setiap gambar, mulai dari kecepatan ISO 80 - 800, white balance, kecepatan shutter, aperture, dan sebuah histogram kecil tentang tingkat kecerahan yang cukup bermanfaat dalam mengevaluasi exposure. Focus Check memperlihatkan gambar berdampingan dengan sebuah bagian kecil yang diperbesar – berguna untuk mengecek ketajaman gambar.
Cukup Responsif
A480 cukup responsif. Waktu yang dibutuhkan (startup) mulai dari menyalakan kamera sampai siap membidik sekitar 1 detik. Waktu yang sama dibutuhkan untuk men-zoom dari panjang fokal terlebar sampai yang terpanjang.
Pada kondisi cukup cahaya, kamera bisa dengan cepat memfokus. Sementara fokus di dalam ruangan atau pada kondisi kurang cahaya akan dibantu oleh focus-assist lamp yang cukup kuat.
Saat kami coba, A480 mampu gambar-gambar dengan kualitas baik. Blitz-nya bekerja baik di dalam ruang, dengan sedikit efek mata merah. Gambar yang diambil di malam hari cukup baik, dengan kecepatan shutter maksimal 15 detik. Musuh terbesar di kamera ini adalah noise yang mulai tampak pada ISO 200.
Pada moda Continous, kamera memerlukan 0,8 frame per detik di kualitas image tertinggi. Angka ini termasuk sangat lambat. Yang menyebalkan, waktu pengisian flash termasuk lambat, sekitar 3 - 4 detik.

Canon PowerShot A3100 IS
A few years ago, Canon's PowerShot A-series of compact cameras used to be very popular with hobby photographers and were designed with that audience in mind, with robust construction, comfortable handling, optical viewfinders and manual exposure controls. These days however most of those hobby photographers have graduated to a Canon G11 or S90, or moved on to a now-affordable digital SLR. It seems there just isn't much demand for cheap but versatile manual compacts any more, and so the venerable A-series has been reduced to a handful of low-cost compacts aimed at the point-and-shoot end of the consumer market. Only the A1100 IS still has an optical viewfinder, and none of them have manual exposure controls.
The current top model of the A-series is this PowerShot A3100 IS, a 12.1-megapixel compact featuring a 4x zoom lens, 2.7-inch monitor and optical image stabilisation. It's a pretty basic camera, and about as close to average as anything on the market. The body is made of plastic, and is available in red, silver or the blue version seen here. Unlike previous AA-powered A-series models it has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and as a result it's a lot lighter and more compact than most of the earlier designs, measuring 97.2 x 58.2 x 28.1mm and weighing 155g including battery and memory card.
The overall build quality is good, with a tight fit between panels and no embarrassing creaks when squeezed. The semi-matt finish is attractive, easy to grip and resists scratches well. The battery hatch is a bit flimsy, with a plastic hinge and a tendency to pop open with little provocation, but at least the tripod bush is metal. The shape of the body includes a slight flare on the right hand end which provides a reasonably firm and comfortable grip, and the controls are large, well laid out and very clearly labelled. I wouldn't go as far as recommending it for anyone with limited eyesight or manual dexterity, but it's a lot less fiddly than most ultra-compacts.
